About The Guitar Player

The Guitar Player is a feature film about a homeless man that gets a second chance in life but struggles with his painful past. Writer/Actor Michael Stein has pledged half of any the net profits that he may make from the film.

WHAT WE ARE DOING.

Simply, the production for feature film, “The Guitar Player.” is seeking funding to make the film.  Due to the content of the film and much collaboration, we have received major contributions and services for the production but more liquid funding is needed. Pledge packages as well as fund raisers have been made in order to raise funds and bring more awareness to the film’s quest and cause.

If you are interested in supporting this production, please go to http://www.theguitarplayermovie.com/ or call us at: 310-281-6946

American Silent Films Repatriated, Thanks To Russia

Unfortunately, only about 20 percent of all movies shot during the silent era have been preserved in America. 80% are lost to history -- but occasionally, some show up in archives around the world.

This recently happened in a Russian archive, and the found films were returned to America. The Library of Congress has just received 10 long-lost films preserved by archivists at Russia's Gosfilmofond institute.

"American movies were, in fact, distributed in Russia and the former Soviet Union regularly from around 1910 right up to the outbreak of World War II," said Patrick Loughney, who is in charge of the Library of Congress' Packard Campus for Audio-Visual Conservation, where he will be taking care of the returned films.

There is apparently more to come. The Russian archivists are planning to return about 200 historical films in total.

Mosfilm Puts Soviet Movies On YouTube

The legendary Moscow film studio Mosfilm is putting a treasure trove of Soviet films on the Internet site, NPR reports.

Among the stash of Russian language films published on YouTube are Soviet classics and some lesser known movies. Mosfilm plans to upload five new films a week onto the dedicated YouTube channel.

I don't think the Mosfilm YouTube Channel is active yet, but I will post a link as soon as I find it.

Guest From The Future - A Remake Candidate?

In the 1980s, Gorky Film Studio in Moscow produced a very charming TV series for children, called Guest From the Future (Гостья из будущего), based on the novel One Hundred Years Ahead (Сто лет тому вперед by Kir Bulychev.

The 5-part series had a total running time of 5 hours and was wildly popular. Re-runs are still shown on Russian TV. The series starred Natalya Guseva as Alisa Seleznyova, a girl from the future that travels to the present and Aleksei Fomkin as Kolia Gerasimov, a boy from the present who travels to the future.

The property might be a good candidate for a Hollywood-produced remake with contemporary production standards. The slow pace of the original would benefit from shortening, which could easily bring the running time down to a marketable format.

Interested parties should please contact me.
